What To Expect During A Window Replacement

Installing new windows isn’t a yearly occurrence, so it’s normal for homeowners to be slightly clueless as to what happens during this process. One major benefit of installing replacement windows is that the process is efficient -- no, your home won’t be left open to the elements overnight! Here’s what you CAN expect during a window replacement.

Selection and Window Measurements
What type of windows are you interested in? The style, frame material, glazing options, and price range all come into play. Your sales representative will provide you with any information you may need, and schedule a date for their contractor to visit your home and take measurements of your windows.

Acquiring Window Permits
This is when you should check with your local building department to find out if a permit is necessary for your window installation. A permit may also be required if you live in a state considered to be in the hurricane zone (located along the East Coast and Gulf Coast).

The Installation Process
The number of windows being replaced will determine the number of days needed for the project. On average, you should expect between two and three days. Make sure you clear a pathway to each window both indoors and out for the workers. At the end of each day, they will make sure all of your rooms are spotless and the windows are tested and working properly.

*Don’t forget to ask questions and be involved! A professional window installer is an expert in their field, which means you can learn a lot!
